How to drain a swimming pool using the siphon principle
Option A
Connect a garden hose to the water supply. Place the free end of the hose in the swimming pool. Run water from the water supply into the hose. When the water starts to flow into the swimming pool, leave the end in the pool submerged in the pool water and turn off the water supply. Then unscrew the end from the water supply. This end will start to flow water in the opposite direction, i.e. out of the swimming pool.
Option B
Immerse the garden hose completely in the swimming pool so that air can escape from both ends and the hose fills with water. Then fold the hose approximately 30 cm from the end at one end so that water does not flow out of this end. Remove the folded end of the hose and straighten the hose where you want the pool water to flow out.
