The saltwater system itself only needs salt. The saltwater system produces chlorine from this salt by electrolysis. The saltwater system does not affect water parameters such as pH, hardness, or alkalinity. Always test the water with test strips and, if necessary, add chemicals to adjust these water parameters to the correct values. If necessary, contact a pool chemical dealer.
