The filter in the hot tub should be cleaned daily or after each use and replaced regularly. Proper maintenance helps keep the water clear and prevents clouding or foam. Chlorine disinfects the water while the filter traps mechanical debris.

If you have a hot tub with a saltwater system, you must add suitable salt and run the saltwater system regularly - the salt then produces chlorine to disinfect the water.
